The Jumping (or Close Contact) saddle is a type of English saddle designed for use over
jumps.
Jumping saddles have a forward flap to accommodate the rider taking up the jumping position in
shorter stirrups. You will also find additional padding in the flap with padded knee rolls for extra support.
The seat is not as deep as other designs of English saddle with a lower pommel and cantle to
enable the rider to take up the jumping position easily. The seat also positions the rider further back in the
saddle for the same reason.
