The distinctive feature of the Australian Stock saddle is the high knee rolls (or ‘Poleys’). These offer remarkable security to the rider, enabling the leg effectively to be locked in behind them. Australian Stock saddles are therefore well suited to riding over rough terrain and also for riders who are unable to grip the horse with their lower leg.
